The XIX NATIONAL TRIPLE O SYMPOSIUM 2022
The XIX NATIONAL TRIPLE O SYMPOSIUM 2022 is an annual symposium conducted by
the speciality of Oral Medicine and Radiology under the official aegis of the Indian Academy
of Oral Medicine and Radiology (IAOMR) in collaboration with the Association of Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgeons of India (AOMSI) and the Indian Association of Oral & Maxillofacial
Pathologists (IAOMP).
Three departments Oral Medicine, Oral Surgery, and Oral Pathology of VMSDC united to
conduct the symposium with the theme of Current Concepts and Future Perspectives,
which took place over two days on 29 th , 30 th April 2022. The event includes international (1
speaker) and national (6 speaker) speakers, as well as panellists (28 members) from the three
specialties of oral medicine and radiology, oral & maxillofacial surgery, oral pathology and
oral microbiology.
Over 500 attendees from throughout India have registered, including over 100 faculty
members.
For the Inauguration (29 th April 2022- 9a.m) Prof.P.K.Sudhir ,Vice chancellor ,VMRF(DU)
was the chief Guest. The IAOMR President Dr.K.Vinay Kumar Reddy,
Hon.Gen.Secretary,IAOMR- Dr.Prashanth Shenoy and AOMSI President- Dr.Manjunath Rai,
AOMSI Secretary- Dr.S.Girish Rao, IAOMP Secretary- Dr.Nadeem Jeddy were present on
the dias. The MC were Dr.Sabitha Gokulraj, Organising Treasurer and Dr.Saramma Mathew
Fenn,Organising Joint Secretary, Dept of OMR. The programme was initiated with Prayer
song followed by lighting of lamp done by Three association President, Secretary, Dean as
well by Prof.Dr.Anil Singh, Dept Oral Pathology, Govt Medical college from Jammu &
Kashmir. Welcome address was given by Dr.P.T Ravikumar organising chairman. The
members on the dias were honoured with mementoes and shawl by our Dean Dr.J.Baby John,
and Associate Dean Dr.Reena Rachel John. Followed by felicitation by all dignitaries on
stage. Dr.Reena Rachel John briefed about the Chief Guest followed by Chief Guest address
after which honoured with memento. The program ended with Vote of Thanks by
Dr.R.Karthik, Organising Secretary.
The Scientific sessions started with key note lecture and the sessions incharges Dr.Maya
Ramesh, Scientific Chairperson and Dr.Diana Scientific committee.The first key note lecture
was given by Dr.Praveen Birur on Point of care diagnostics followed by Dr.Manjunath Rai,
AOMSI President, on current concepts in diagnosis&management.Third key note lecture was
given by Dr.Ranaganathan, from Oral Pathology Current concepts on PMD, Dr.Girish Rao
gave lecture on future concepts in management of Oral Cancer. The afternoon session
continued with two Panel discussions on Current perspectives in diagnosis of PMD and Fibro
osseous lesions.The Panelists were from three specialities with a Moderator being
Dr.Gopakumar Nair, from OMR and Dr.Thangavelu,Oral Surgery for each session.
The Day 2 (April 30 th 2022) The keynote session was started Dr.Soumya.S.V on application
of diagnostic tools in diagnostic pathology. Followed by Panel discussion on micro ¯o
diagnosis &management of oral cancer.Dr. Madhavan Nirmal (Oral Pathology) was the
moderator with six panellists from three specialities. After which the Guest lecture by Dr.N.
Gnanasundaram, senior faculty of OMR on Jaws in dystrophies was given.The last key note
lecture was given by the International speaker Dr.Sumanth(OMR) on artificial
intelligence&precision medicine in oral medicine &radiology. The final Panel discussion was
on diagnosis & protocols in management of maxillofacial infections with Dr.Prithvi
Balepur(oral surgery) and six panellists. The scientific paper presentations were conducted in
Halls B, C, D, E simultaneously on second day with 13 sessions
The two day event ended with valedictory function, the MC’s were Dr.Saramma, Dr.Sabitha
(OMR)The Chief Guest was Dr.K.Ezhilvendhan, Dean, VMKVMedical College The
dignitaries were IAOMR President , IAOMR Secretary,Dean, Associate Dean (Research),
Organising chairman, Organising co chairman, Scientific chairperson were present along with
the chief Guest. The chief Guest gave a motivational speech and was honoured with a shawl
The prizes were distributed by all dignitaries on stage.The first award was under Triple O
Research category with the first prize of Rs 5000 and awarded in name of
Dr.R.Thiruneervannan. Second Prize was with the reward of Rs 3000.
The Quiz winner team was rewarded with Rs 3000 and awarded in the name of
Dr.Ajith.D.Dinkar.
The first 100 participants out of which 75 were taken to Yercaud site seeing on May1st. Trip
was arranged by VMSDC staff accompanied were Dr.Narendran, Dr.Sekar and the
participants were brought back to the city by evening.
