CULTURAL REPORT 2021
The annual Culturals day of Vinayaka Mission’s Sankarachariyar Dental College, Salem was conducted at the
Annapoorna Auditorium, Vinayaka Mission’s Kirupananda Variyar Medical College, Salem by the 2016-17 batch on
10/12/2021 (Friday).
A well-planned programme was executed by the conducting batch under the guidance of the Member Secretary of
the Student Council, Dr.D Jayachandran, constant monitoring by the cultural coordinators, Dr.Diana Prem and Dr.R
Saravanan and with uninterrupted support and facilitation by Mr.Natarajan (Administrative Officer).
The event management and auditorium decor was done by Mr.Ajmal and team, and the outdoor arrangements were
made by Mr.Sarvesh. Food and catering was provided by Roshan catering services.
It was a one day programme, that started at 9:30am with the official inauguration in the presence of Dean Dr.Baby
John, Dr.Reena Rachel John (Associate Dean-Research), Dr.R.Saranyan (Associate Dean-Academics) and
Mr.N.Ramasamy (Director, VMKV Medical College). The inauguration commenced with the felicitation of the chief
guest Dr.Deepti Shastri (Dean, VMKV Medical College), followed by addresses by the Dean and the Associate Deans,
Student Council installation for the academic year 2021-22, release of the annual college magazine Kaleidoscope
2020-21 and the Chief guest’s address. The inauguration was concluded by vote of thanks by Dr.Vinola Duraisamy,
followed by the National Anthem.
On-stage events were held consisting of different types of group dances, duet dance, standup comedy, and fashion
show. Short films made by different batches were displayed. Winners of each event were prized with certificates
simultaneously. Special awards were given to the Best Director, Best Actor(Male/Female), Best Cinematography, Best
Screenplay for the short films.
Dr.V.P.Chandrasekhar (Deputy Medical Director, Variyar Hospital, Salem) graced the show for an hour and awarded
the team that put up the best fashion show.
Lastly, Mr.Vinayaka and Miss.Vinayaka were crowned in the fashion show final round out of top 8 finalists, from all
the batches as a whole, based on their performance on the ramp. That marked the last event on the stage.
Overall scores secured by the 6teams individually in all the events that were conducted in Art, Literature, Sports,
Culturals were calculated and announced. The winners were given trophies by the respective secretaries along with
the Faculty members. The overall Champions Cup was secured by the Final years (2021-22), winning Arts, Literature
and Sports cup. The overall Runners-up Cup was secured by the CRIs (November 2021-22), who won the Culturals Cup
and held an overall second position in the total score.
Dinner arrangements were well taken care by the Food Committee (Dr.Sugavanan, Dr.Elizabeth, Dr.Riya, Dr.Jemi,
Dr.Viswapriya) from the organizing batch. The disciplinary committee, consisting of Dr.Kavina, Dr.Jintu, Dr.Twinkle,
Dr.Gheethanjali, Dr.Julia, Dr.Aditi, Dr.Arun from the organizing batch, took special care of maintaining the decorum
throughout the function.
The function was concluded after dinner and College bus was provided for both hostellers and dayscholars for return.
