Department Of Public Health Dentistry, conducted Dental Screening and Awareness Program for 65 – 74 years index age group at Tambras old age home, Chinna Thirupathi, Salem on 04/04/2019.

Oral examination were done for all the inmates of old age home.

Oral health education given by Prof. Dr. N. Saravanan common oral diseases, importance of healthy mouth, prevention and management of root caries to retain maximum number of natural teeth, role of nutrition for maintaining health of oral structures and general health, importance of replacement of teeth, step by step guide on brushing and cleaning of dentures followed by maintenance and replacement of dentures.

Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. N. Saravanan, Head of the Department, a team of 6 interns participated in the program.
Total of 39 elderly people were benefitted from the program, out of which 14 had dental caries and 7 were edentulous. All were given referral cards.
Dr. C. Bharath, Senior Lecturer, Dr. S. Venkatalakshmi, Senior Lecturer and Dr. K. Priya Deepa Lakshmi, Senior Lecturer coordinated the program.
