ABC for writing a Research proposal

The Institutional Research Committee had organized a Continuing Dental Education (CDE) program, titled “ABC for writing a Research proposal” for the staff, postgraduate students and interns of the dental college on Tuesday, 11th June 2019.

          The guest speaker, Dr. Prathibha, MD, had consented to be the speaker for the program and the Deputy Director of Research, Dr. S. Suriyanarayanan, PhD, had also attended the program.

          The program commenced with, Dr. Vishalini welcoming the audience and requesting the guest speaker, Dr. Prathibha, MD, the Deputy Director of Research, Dr. S. Suriyanarayanan, PhD, Dr. J. Baby John, MDS, Principal and Dr. Reena Rachel John, MDS, Vice-Principal (Research) to the dais followed by the prayer song.

          Dr. Reena Rachel John, MDS, Vice-Principal (Research) had emphasized the importance of research and the progression of scientific activities of the dental institution. Also, how this program would mark the beginning of the upcoming research programs and would be particularly beneficial for the research scholars and the first year postgraduate students.

Dr. Vinola, MDS, Professor, from the Department of Pedodontics had introduced the guest speaker.

This was followed by the felicitation of the speaker, Dr. Prathibha, MD and the the Deputy Director of Research, Dr. S. Suriyanarayanan, PhD by the Principal, Dr. J. Baby John, MDS. The Principal also highlighted the importance of research and that the future lies in the minds young aspiring dentists to develop an aptitude for research.

The Deputy Director of Research, Dr. S. Suriyanarayanan, PhD, had also shared a few words on the program and the current status of the research in the university and dental institution.

        This was followed by the talk on “ABC of writing of Research Proposal” by the guest speaker which was divided into two sessions, session I and II with a break of fifteen minutes for refreshments. The talk briefed on the various aspects of writing a research proposal and by citing examples, the steps that can be followed to draft a proposal with minimal errors so that the proposal may be considered by external funding agencies.

       

This was followed by the vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Diana Prem, Senior Lecturer, Oral Pathology.

 

         The program concluded with the national anthem and with lunch for the staff present.

The program was credited by the TNDCI with 3 credit points, approval no. 192/19.
