WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY- 31st May -2019


On account of “World No Tobacco Day- 31st May 2019, Department of Public Health Dentistry”, Vinayaka Mission’s Sankarachariyar Dental College, Salem along with Cipla Healthcare Conducted Tobacco Awareness Program and Oral Screening Camp for students, non-teaching staffs and drivers of Vinayaka Mission’s College of Pharmacy, Salem on 31/05/2019. The aim of the program was to create awareness about ill-effects of using tobacco products and educating the people about the importance of quitting the habit.

Dr. B. S. Venkateshwarlu, Principal Vinayaka Mission’s College of Pharmacy inaugurated the programme and Dr. B. Arul Head of the Department of
Pharmacy Practice, Vinayaka Mission’s College of Pharmacy welcomed the gathering. Lecture on harmful effects of smoking and smokeless tobacco and ways to quit smoking habit was delivered by Prof. Dr. N. Saravanan, Head of the Department,
Department of Public Health Dentistry, VMSDC, Salem Carbon monoxide breath analyzer was used for people with history of smoking.
Nicotex chewing gums and free tooth paste samples were distributed to the participants with smoking habit.

A total no of 142 peoples were benefited from this programme. Dr. C. Bharath, Senior Lecturer, Dr. S. Venkatalakshmi, Senior Lecturer,
Dr. K. Priya Deepa Lakshmi, Senior Lecturer and a team of interns participated in the program.
