    WHITE COAT CEREMONY FOR I BDS - 2021

    The White Coat Ceremony welcomes the special chosen students who are embarking on the medico professional journey by choosing dentistry as a career.

    They are welcomed to the community of physicians by giving and robbing them the “White Coat” a powerful symbol of compassion and honour. Thus marking the students’ transition from lay person to a physician.  

     

    This year the White coat ceremony was conducted for I year BDS students in the Founder’s Hall, on 19.02.2021 between 9:30 am to 10:30 am.

    The White Coat Ceremony began by invoking the almighties presence with a prayer song and Lamp Lighting. Prof. Dr. J. Sabarinathan Director Academics, graced the occasion as the Chief guest. The guest of honour of this special occasion was Prof Dr Deepti Shastri, Deputy Dean, VMKV Medical College and Hospital, Salem.

    Prof. Dr. Reena John, Associate Dean – Research, welcomed everyone.

    Prof. Dr. N. Mohan, Associate Dean – Academics briefed about the Significance of White coat to the Freshers, following which new white coats were distributed to the students, after which the Students pledged their commitment to their profession and to the health of the patients they will serve, as Prof Dr Jayashree Mohan, Associate Dean, Students affairs read the White coat Pledge.
    The Highlight of the Ceremony was Lighting the Lamp of Knowledge and Wisdom - Floating Lamp (5 Lotus & Candles)

    Following the Ritual, our esteemed Dean Prof. Dr. J. Baby John delivered the Dean's address. The chief guest & the Guest of honor also addressed the students.

    The  grand ceremony concluded with the Words of Gratitude, which was delivered by Prof  Dr. Maya Ramesh, Head of the Department Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.

    This remarkable occasion was graced with the presence of all the Heads of the Departments and the First year Teaching Faculty.

    Refreshments were served for all.
